eXistenZ definitely harkens back to Cronenberg’s days of science fiction/body horror. If you prefer A History of Violence and Eastern Promises, eXistenZ is probably not for you.
This was an excellent ‘thinking person’ movie that was unfortunately overshadowed by the admittedly superior special effects of the Matrix that came out around the same time with a fairly near miss on the plot.
Haven’t seen this one.
Is it good?
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to you if you are a fan of David Cronenberg’s work.
I feel it’s one of his best, right up there with Videodrome, Scanners, The Dead Zone, Dead Ringers, and The Fly.
I am more a fan of his less fantastic stuff like A History of Violence and Eastern Promises.
Where does this one fit?

Thanks.
Looks like a great cast.
I’ll likely check it out anyway.
