Oh, I see what you mean. But given that he’s the man he made the Devil’s Backbone, I’d say he’s qualified to make an homage. And it’s not like people haven’t ripped off the Haunting of Hill House repeatedly over the decades, and for good reason: that novel and the 1963 adaptation are masterpieces. I mean, c’mon, “and whatever walked there, walked alone” is just solid spine-chilling gold.
I’m a massive Shirley J fan so I sometimes go into ‘over-protective’ mode. Glad someone else out there appreciates her and thinks the orig film adaptation is a masterpiece.
