I was actually ok with this one, but yet, they did foreshadow her death way way way over the top, and there were a few things that just didn’t need to be in there, primarily the entire aircraft controller scenes.
Ok I know this is gonna get some hate, and will probably get down voted but it really needs to be said: the reason ALL of the spider man movies have been bad is that the source material is complete shit.
I read comics, which has included multiple versions of SM over the years and the fact is that SM as a conceptual character is great, but the stories have always been complete shit. There has been some exceptions in his stories, but his overarching portrayal in the books has him either being a douchey jackass, or whiney bitch.
Further more, he never got a break from personal loss, or against over the top villans that he has no chance of defeating. His enemies have ALLWAYS been overpowered compared to him, and it seems like he just can’t win against anything other than common street criminals that don’t have superpowers.
He takes too much shit from his boss @... work, he suffers constantly in his personal life either from death of loved ones, or conflict in between his non-SM ego, and the bad guys are written as too strong for him to handle.
Face it, if SM was not such a shitty written comic, maybe the movies would have been better. Talk about a wasted character concept.
Also, I will stipulate that some of the team ups that SM has been in have not been bad at all, however those are exceptions from the rule.
Of course you’re going to get some hate, you’re shitting on one of the most beloved comic book characters in existence.
The source materials have had some great storylines (and some not so great, thanks ‘one more day’ and ‘clone saga’), but I truly do believe that spider-man it’s pretty good character. Of course his life isn’t fair, of course he has shitty things happening to him all the time, that’s the way that real life works. Think you boss gives a shit that your mother is sick? Think that you mother cares that your boss is mean to you?
Nope. That’s the real world. Everyone’s bigger or more powerful than you and you need to figure out out to live in that world.
Tiki just because something is popular, doesn’t mean that it has to be good. Want an example? Heroin is quite popular, but that doesn’t mean that it is a good thing. Another example: The Twilight films. What a load of shit those are, yet many 12 yr old girls and their mommies found them to be quite stimulating.
Yes SM has had some great stories, but his overall theme has been that he is a doormat for everyone in his life including his boss, his relationships with women, and of course super bad guys who wipe their asses with him.
You did make a point that the real world is a heartless bitch, but is it not the point of things like comics to help you get away from reality for a bit? Art does not have to imitate life to be good. The bad guys in his books need to be toned down, or he needs a buff. Other super hero types or groups like the Xmen face powerful foes and sometimes lose, but they win to. They also don’t wind up as toilet paper for some bad guy like SM does.
So yes, I am shitting on Sm, and will continue to do so until the writing improves and he can come off more like a hero, and not a doormat.
I’m not seeing how you can feel he’s a doormat though. he routinely beats the crap out of the street level guys AND the super powered ones. Hell, he’s gone up against six bad guys at the same time and walked away from it, usually without any broken bones!
Villains were horrible and Gwen’s death was overly foreshadowed. Only good thing was Emma Stone. Paul Giamatti should be ashamed.
I AM THE RI-NOOOOOOO. YOU SPIDER-MAN NOW?
Wretched doesn’t even begin to describe it. A lot of the audience had left the theater before the movie ended.

Even the Green Goblin seemed tacked on, bleh.
