We went nuts the other night and watched the entire thing in a one-er. Now I feel mildly hung over but satisfied. I could ramble on about it for hours but I don’t want to get spoilerific on people’s asses. (And speaking of asses, it’s amusing that Woody Harrelson has his name superimposed over an ass in the opening credits, because he gets A LOT of quality tail in this show. In contrast, McConaughey has a strange telephone head hybrid) I loved it. It has a few flaws but they’re minor. I loves me a bit of Southern Gothic and we get it in spades. The performances are uniformly superb. The writing is terrific, especially in the form of Rust Cohle’s amazing monologues. Writer’s are always looking for new wrinkles on detective character traits, but a pessimistic atheist with synesthesia and former drug use induced hallucinations is a new one on me! The series has only one director, and I think, two writers. This is very unusual for an American show. It’s the norm for shows to have multiple writers and directors. This perhaps helps with the sense of continuity you get. As I said, I can’t go into details because I don’t want to spoil it for everyone else. But trust me everyone else. You need this show in your life.
In in depth study of the title sequence now reveals that Woody and Matthew both get to have their names superimposed over an ass alternately. Don’t say I’m not good to you.
Enjoy the ride…
Let me know what you think. Your comments, as always, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your comments. I’m glad you liked it. I loved it, too. I’m looking forward to watching it again, but after I’ve digested it a little more.
What a fat paragraph.
So this is linked to the King in Yellow? If so I need to watch this now!
It is. And you do need to watch it right now.

Thank you peeps this is what we have been looking for : )
An additional thought, a few episodes in I started to suspect the murderer might be Andy Goldsworthy!
