How in the world was Superman Returns confusing? It’s a basic rehash of Superman 1, set as a sequel to Superman 2, imagining that Superman 3 and 4 never happened, which is a good thing.
Not confusing.
Confused.
To me it had no clear sense of era…or time…when it was suppose to be.
It was trying too hard to use too many great Superman iconic images, characters and dialog from so many different decades of Supes comics and movies, it just became a distracting blur of stuff that never really felt like it belonged together.
A 50’s Jimmy Olsen, a seventies Lois Lane, Lex and his gang cobbled together from 3 or four different different decades….a very un 2005 setting that was trying hard to be vaguely modern but also really wanted to be the late seventies of the Christopher Reed Supes.
I know…hard to explain….but it just felt like a really strange, confused mash up of good Superman ideas, but all from different eras….and none of them really gelled together.
Plus it was too serious in bits, too realistic in bits, and then too silly and too campy in other bits….kinda the same thing…tone pulled from too many different stories of different seriousness.
It just felt like Singer couldn’t decide what he wanted in his Superman movie….so he put it all in.
It really made it a distracted mess for me.
Who’s the douche, the guy in the pic, or the guy who uploaded a dozen posts worth of free promotion for that guy?
Lmao, as if we don’t usually do that here. I’m a comic book fan that’s why i uploaded it.
Don’t avoid the question.
I’ve enjoyed pretty much everything Singer has put out. He’s a pretty cool guy to me.
I dunno Tikki.
He’s hit and miss for me.
He’s batting about .500 on the Xmen.
And Supe Returns was a just a sad, confused mess….
