Malcolm McDowell getting to play a lovable nerd this time instead of a scheming, unstable villain.
I always thought the chemistry between him and Mary Steenburgen was perfect in this movie….
Oh dear. I’m sorry, but I can’t get on board for this. The leads just don’t have the charisma of McDowell and Warner. Some movies are best left alone and I think this is one of them. (Although I suppose it is quite nice that someone actually remembered the original existed)
Everything has an annoying cheap plastic/dumbed-down feeling that screams made for network television. The long trailer feels like the network pleading with the audience to tune in.
LOVE this film, but Rod’s is the better time machine.
Is that Jay Leno driving the cab?
That voice over is off putting. Almost like he’s talking about petting puppies or the next new wacky television invention.

Well they did get married afterwards so the chemistry was real. (or if not married, then a loooong co-habitation)
I actually did not know that….so they met on the set of this movie….?
Huh.
One of the better movie-villain comeuppances that I can remember…David Warner’s always been one of my favorite heavies.

I had a very similar reaction.
