The rear jets look to be angled downward. Also behind and under the cockpit of the aircraft there looks to be flaps where vents have opened up along with extra vents (aside from where the landing gear would retract) that have opened on the bottom.
Very cool! Makes the Harrier look like the 1970s tech it is. I still think that Stovl/Vtol hasn’t lived up to it’s supposed value (although there are many socio-political reasons for that as well).

It’s an F-35, so it has a large fan behind the pilot, in addition to a swiveling exhaust nozzle. The upper and lower doors are for the fan intake and exhaust.
It says Stovl (short take off vertical landing) right on the tail, but I don’t see any downward rotated engines. How would this work?
