that pussy looks like he’d rather not be there, and i don’t blame him.
as a person who has both a cat and an african grey, my impression is that the cat and the bird have probably had several “experiences” where the cat has come out on the losing end of things…
That is true, but they are like a 2 year old their entire life. They never “grow out of” the terrible two’s. And an African Grey will live to be 80 years old, if I recall correctly. Too lazy to go look it up, but likely to outlive their owner.
our african grey is somewhere between 3 and 4 years old. he knows all of the names of all the other pets in the house (somewhere between 5 and 9 other pets), and gives all of them commands, some of which he has heard us say, and some of which he has made up himself. he is uncannily smart, but is also quite tempermental, and stand-offish — they are terrifically neophobic and have to be introduced to new people several times before they’ll do anything but bite and screech… the average african grey is probably as intelligent as a 2 or 3 year old human child, but they never get any more intelligent… and he will live to be 60 to 80 years old, which is a fair amount more than i plan on living, so we have several alternatives for new housing when the time comes.
Keep expecting the cat’s eyes to dilate into crazytown, but no.

You’ve got an African Grey? How intelligent is it? I’ve heard they can be as bright (and demanding) as human children.
