But to use a slightly different analogy than this post: even if you leave your expensive new car with the doors open, the keys on the ignition, and a sign that reads “I dare you to steal this car” on the roof, it doesn’t in any way excuse anyone for actually stealing the car. None of those actions reduce the guilt of the thief or the severity of the punishment he rightfully deserves. However, if you do that and you complain that the car got stolen, you’re an idiot who lacks the intellectual capacity to survive in the real world.
