Friendly atheist? no. He’s very good at couching his hatred of religious folks. But pay attention he calls religion crap and is pretty condescending in his choice of words. From what I’ve seen on the video it appears to me that he is irked because people ask ‘inappropriate’ questions or say things he doesn’t like. You know, if you’re gonna announce what you believe, expect folks to do that, and worse. Honestly, he’s doing the same thing to those he’s whining about in his youtube diatribe.
“From what I’ve seen on the video it appears to me that he is irked because people ask ‘inappropriate’ questions or say things he doesn’t like.”
The video about these things being said over and over again, without the asker even thinking about what they’re saying. He doesn’t think that these questions are inappropriate, he thinks that they’re ill-conceived.
As for “hatred of religious folks”, that’s a misapprehension based on the fact that people are used to religious ideas existing in a bubble where it’s not ok to challenge them. Hating a bad idea isn’t the same as hating the people that believe in it.
” couching” ? , of course its condescending, that’s what he’s pointing out about the questions as well.

The questions are right on the nose, alot of his answers are close, but really dickish. His shwarmy attitude is not appreciated.
I think the most offensive thing I have seen is at a funeral, where it was claimed that an athiest didn’t believe the deceased was going anywhere, so it must all be easy for him and fuck them. For one, This makes no logical sense, which is a common problem when trying to talk to anyone questioning atheism. And two, it’s much harder knowing you will never see someone again, and on the other hand, most religions have beliefs that they will get to see the deceased one day, by their own argument they are being silly.
But I need to expand: even as a christian, someone offering to pray for you/someone else is like saying “I dont actually have time/give a shit to help”. It’s just a plain terrible thing to say.

I’m not religious and i still want to punch that guy in the throat.
Is it just me, or does he look, and act, a little like The Rock ?
As for the message, I agree with what his saying (although he probably did meet a satanist), even if his doing in from a slightly elevated horse.

it can be very difficult to talk to religious folks sometimes, on one hand you want to ask them how they could possibly believe in such dribble, but then you realize you’d be better off giving them a hug as you would any mentally challenged child
I don’t get it. Is this guy atheist or anti-christian? Cause it’s okay to be anti-christian.
this is hemant mehta, the friendly atheist…
but the way you said it implies that it’s not okay to be an atheist… is that what you really believe?
it’s not okay?
Your communication skills are really special.

Just as long as he can worship his own sense of self importance.
