If they really want to show off what fans can do, why don’t they take the money they’re asking for, buy their own copies of Maya, Lightwave, etc. and do it themselves. If they’re just hiring an outside company to do the animation, that’s not showing that fans can do anything except raise money. There’s nothing very special going on with that.
