I actually find it to be rather unfortunate that this interpretation as a hand gesture prevents me from resting my head on my hand in that manner. The middle finger, being the longest, and the ring and index fingers, being the next strongest, make a pretty good tripod for the ol’ dome. Isn’t really a good second option aside from just smooshing your cheek into all four uniform fingers like a goober.
