Of course baptisms don’t make sense if you take away the religious background but so does, for example, completely wrecking your nerves with planning, spending thousands of dollars on two rings, a dress, a suit, food for all your friends and relatives, making up a seating order, make sure the flowers match the napkins, having everybody tell you how to do it better just because society thinks this is the right thing to do if you want some chick to have your last name.
