Post-Star Wars knockoff that I distinctly remember being a lot of fun. Even the ridiculousness (a 3-masted sailing spaceship?) was leavened by a pretty decent story, Kurosawa homages, bare-knuckle Godzilla-era model & fireworks FX –no optical printing here– including weirdly prescient separating ships, tunnel chases & plummeting villain deaths…not to mention scenery-chewing performances from everybody (and yes, that’s Vic Morrow.) Because Japan. Recommended.
Yet another reason for me to get a region free dvd player. That looks really good.
Was the message “Peace and Prosperity”?
I think it was more along the lines of “YOU’RE GONNA LOVE OUR NUTS”.
