“I speak my mind” is just something people who have no tact or social skills say to justify why people don’t like them without having to admit they’re often, however unintentionally, abrasive and rude.

If you lack tact, and come off shitty, you get called slurs. Slurs aren’t exactly known for establishing logical and tangible connections between a word and the person it’s used as a label for in the first place.
