They could be. I had some disk games which were reduced from a couple of minutes load times to a matter of seconds.
Best example was The Hobbit – took me half an hour to load it from a tape and the next load from disk took about 12 seconds.
They were brilliant tech for their time.
Reminds me of the loading screens for C64 games. I am old.
I’m old too – I don’t think it’s the loading screens you’re thinking of so much as the decompression screens. Action Replay compression.
