Lots of Cisco switches have become good frames with packets. L3-capable for the distro layer.
At that point it’s not just a switch tho…
But it is still a switch.
Well then, so is a router. It switches packets. Hence the term, packet switching.
True, but some routers are also switches. They have switch modules, and just frame switch on that module’s ports without L3 packets.
Almost all network devices are multi-taskers these days.
