Bane was actually pretty well thought out. He has a compelling back story, and ties to The Venom story arc from Legends of the Dark Knight.
Az-Bats was the laziest character ever written (next to Red Hulk), but he was written with the express purpose replacing Batman and making the readers hate him and want Bruce Wayne back.
This is the original. And I agree, not Liefeld bad but not great either. I have to admit, when I did have this issue, it was mesmerizing.
I found myself rooting for Bane in the Nolan movie, especially during this scene. (who am I kidding, I’m always during in favor of whoever Lameman is squaring off against in the Nolanverse)
He doesn’t look like GoatseBane at all.
Bane – laziest written character *ever* next to Red Hulk.

Ok… I have to go with you on that one.
+1
Wow…is this really the original scene in comics? Or just some fan version? Because that’s some seriously terrible art…almost Liefeld-bad.

Rush Limbaugh claimed that Bane was created by liberals to demonize Romney’s old company Bain capital.
They must have has a lot of foresight, because the character first appeared in January 1993

Rush Limbaugh needs a Bane-mask to a) perpetually feed him oxycontin and b) muzzle his flabby yap.
