(one or two may have been early ’90s…whatever.)

Some of the best stories. The Armor Wars, an intelligent and mean Hulk. Thor losing immortality, Steve Rogers forced to give up being Captain America and a married Spiderman (oh, and Venom first showed up).
I followed all of them except Iron Man.
Peter David’s angry adolescent Hulk was fresh for awhile before the writing/stories got chintzy (that was also where Todd McFarlane honed his chops before landing Amazing Spider-Man.)
Walt Simonson wrapped up his groundbreaking time on Thor with much aplomb –too bad he didn’t draw it all the way through (Sal Buscema shouldered the task competently.)
And although there’ve been Rogers-gives-up-being-Cap storylines before, the whole Commission/Super-Patriot storyline was easily the most intriguing & well-done…until they almost ruined it by throwing in the Red Skull (although the way they did it was at least semi-cool.)
As for Spider-Man’s black, symbiotic costume & the rise of Venom…what more can be said?
