Got into a long back-n-forth with a reboot enthusiast awhile back about the NCC-1701 redesign…he went on & on about how it looked more hot-roddish due to the cowlings over the nacelles. While this is probably what they were going for (they being the production-design team, saying as much in interviews,) I feel that it fails because it just doesn’t mesh well with the rest of the design, particularly the saucer section. And who the fuck wants a “hot-rod” Enterprise? This ain’t no Millennium Falcon…

It sucks! Redo and re-submit, and try to incorporate some positive astethics this time.
I like it, but you’re right, it doesn’t fit with Star Trek’s sleek and graceful aesthetic. Looks like it’d be more comfortable in something like Firefly.
