The majority of the population could vote for third parties and it wouldn’t make a difference unless they were all voting for the SAME third part candidate.
With the financial connections the major parties have, a third party doesn’t have a real chance to win so people feel they are throwing away their vote going with a third party candidate.
Plus, many people think of it as a competition, and will vote for their “team” even if their candidate is a complete wreck. They think “My dad was a Repub/Dem and that’s the way I vote too, my family has always voted that way”
that’s very nice statement.
so how come enough people don’t vote for third parties or “minor party” candidates?
we could have more viable choices beyond “dumb” vs. “dumber”, after all.
because Americans HATE losing, so much so that they’ll back someone that they don’t agree with 100%, but they think will win.
