-Matt. 21:18-20 – Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
-Jer. 29:17 – Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.

You know what’s great? When people who hate the bible or Christianity as a whole take a scripture completely out of context and use it to support their hatred or to spread misinformation. *
*CAVEAT* Let me Caveat that by saying that there are those in organized religion who do the same thing. Here is an example: anyone who preaches “Hellfire” or the concept of living forever in some state of torment as punishment for sin is and is lying to scare you into participating in their brand of the religion.
“The wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
Of course- That’s why this is a relevant joke. It’s rare to see people taking Bible verses out of context unless they are A: Promoting hate/oppression or B: Satirizing/Highlighting the process by which those in group A get their material.
Nutshell- stuff like this image isn’t talking shit on Christians or even the Bible- Just highlighting the Haters’ fallacy.

Illiterate Southern Baptist rabbits in a snit. But at least the figs can get married. Isn’t that nice?
Absolutely brilliant
