The US Pirate Flag
This was made for all of us who love the USA but believe it has been stolen out from under us by 100+ years of complacency of her citizens and propaganda of her government. Remember, of the people, by the people, and for the people. If we refuse to stand up and be counted, then we deserve to be trod into the dusts of history as a country of lazy citizens not worthy of the freedoms they had taken for granted.
To quote Thomas Jefferson:
“What country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?”
“I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. It is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government.”
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it’s natural manure.”
I love Jefferson as much as the next guy. But taking advise from 150+ year old writings to guide modern society is just about as smart as asking for guidance from 2000+ year old religious texts.
disregarding knowledge based upon when it was written is pretty stupid, no matter the source. if the Idea has no merit, then discard it. however, if it is Good Knowledge, it should be pursued steadfastly and heeded.
this applies to Scientific fact as much as it does Religious guidance.
natedong i logged in for the first time in ages just to say i loved that response.
natedog: You are a rare gem of wisdom in an internet full of garbage. Thank you.
I’m pretty sure someone who lived 150+ years ago telling me to die for ideals he holds in high esteem is stupid. In fact, last I checked, anyone telling me to die probably does not have my best interests in mind, and/or is stupid.
You are an idiot sir.
Yeah… because killing people you disagree with is the “enlightened” solution. Blood… tree and all that. Grow up.
I’m on board with this concept, and what our forefathers and architects of the Constitution believed and, I believe in a revolution to usurp the modern government, and make a clean sweep, and rebuild with the common man in mind. But there’s a huge problem. When Thomas Jefferson wrote the above, all we had as weapons was flintlock rifles, swords and ball cannons. Can you image what a revolution of this level would be like today? Assault rifles. Laser guided weapons. Rocket launchers. Biological warfare. Even subsonics. It would be a slaughter of biblical proportions. I believe a more modern approach, possibly hacking or shutting down the governments entire computer network would cause more havoc and certainly less bloodshed. Eh, but what do I know.
IEDs seem to be pretty effective weapons in Iraq and Afghanistan, but going head-to-head with the military still would be difficult.
The real power in the US is the corporations and any organized resistance would do well to go after that. There’s all kinds of project Mayhem type stuff that an organized group could pull off. I’m tempted to go into details, but I’d rather not end up on a watch-list.
reboot: Project Mayhem was closer to the truth than most people know. As I am already on several watch lists, the first targets in a modern revolution should be the financial giants of the corporate world, as they write the laws that the puppets in Washington pass.
Agreed. It’s been demonstrated that an small computer glitch can dramatically disrupt the stock market. I’ve been thinking about what a well-placed explosively pumped magnetic flux compressor (ie EMP bomb) would do.
Enable you to clean out 3 casino vaults at once…?
I do my act of resistance each November when I almost always vote for non-incumbents for any political office.
It’s too bad too many dead & bogus voters somehow show up to elect the clowns that always stay in office year after year.
TJ was a highly intellectual man but often arrogant, narrow-minded, and tremendously anti-federal government/central power.
I think we all agree that many of American politicians keep sweeping the nation’s and world’s problems under the rug. These past seven months with the inability to cooperate for financial “stability” have made me sick and as a USMC veteran I would not hesitate “motivating” some of these asshats like Jeb Hensarling, Kevin McCarthy, and Boehner to shut their cock holsters.
Despite what we see now, I strongly believe our generation is almost there to take the reigns of this country and bring it where its needed, not where its wanted.
Never let it be said that our military people don’t have a heart for change. To you oh unknown Marine I say, Semper Fi!
Ya, good luck with that. I believe that’s the same thing the peace loving hippies of the 60s said they were going to do too. Change the world! Make it better!
Oh, wait… you mean if I sell my soul I can get the easy life? Sign me up! We can build an entire economy on financial services, real estate, and insurance? How wonderful we don’t have to do any of that nasty industrial stuff in our country! We didn’t need those low skill jobs anyhow. Send them to China if it will make our corporate masters and extra couple bucks. That’s more important that keeping America working isn’t it?
So ya, I have no delusions that our generation is going to be able to save anything. We’ve been handed a bill that is bigger than we can ever hope to pay. Math doesn’t lie. If you don’t know why Jefferson was so anti-government/anti-banking, then you clearly don’t understand what he viewed as the real enemy of the little man. He knew that the banks were more dangerous than the armies of the world. He was certain that the governments would get into bed with them without rebellion of the populous from time to time. Little did he know that the banks and politicians would “bribe” people with money they didn’t have to keep the ponzi going as long as possible.
When they couldn’t sign up the baby boomers for the ponzi, they started signing up their kids and grandkids to keep it going. Now, there’s not much left and it’s starting to fall apart. The question is if we are going to take it hard and sharp or slow and suffocating. The money people have decided we must do slow and suffocating so they have as much time as possible to get their cash out while we get robbed.
So read up some more on Jefferson. He and the other founders (specifically Madison) knew what dangers were ahead.
Empires fall, every single one withiout fail. The pride and hubris are made bare and nothing of value is lost, the knowledge is passed on and the empire is remembered for its most memorable features shamefull features.
The Romans stretched themselves too far.
The British stretched themselves too far.
Even the Russians…
Guess who’s next, the US.
Then China.
Then whoever things they are the next big thing.
It’s all pride and hubris.
What are you 12?
The world is so much bigger and more complicated than you realize. Rome birthed Britain and as far as the British Empire falling…well we’re typing in English right now and last time I checked London was still the financial capital of the world.
Read more. A LOT more.
btw China is just a bubble waiting to burst. The USA ain’t going anywhere. I’m Canadian and even I know that.
canadians- they know their place
Okay:
1. What does any of this have to do with piracy?
2. If you want to get people on your side by quoting Jefferson, fine, but for fucksakes come up with a better flag. That is the dorkiest canton I’ve ever seen. I can only imagine how many like-minded folks would be on board with your cause –right up until they saw that dumbass thing.
