The F4 Phantom. I got to fly a REAL US Air Force F4 Flight Simulator when I was a kid in the Boy Scouts in Anchorage, AK. It had the actual cockpit and a BIG room full of computor banks to run that thing. (Your cell phone has more computing power than that room had back then). It was cool as hell- had hydraulics, so the cockpit rose and banked etc. Plus an extra cockpit on the computor control panel outside the simulator. So they could see everything he was doing- and mess with the jet while they’re training. Definitely one of the coolest things I got to do as a Scout.
The one in the image is SHOWTIME 100, the CAG aircraft from the USS Constellation flown by Randy Cunningham and Billy Driscoll the day they became the United State’s only Navy Aces of the Vietnam War, May 10th, 1972.
If by “whale” you mean A-3 or the EA-3…. umm. NO.
Otherwise, yes.
Pretty sure it looks like a plane.

“A triumph of thrust over aerodynamics”
A friend of mine in the Air Force said that it proved that if you strapped a big enough jet engine to a bus, you could make it fly.
Iz dis nigga searyiz?
Dats a jet, not a keyboard key ya feels me
sirnerd,
heard roughly the same from a Vietnam era navy pilot…you strap a big enough engine to a huge brick and it can fly.
Still…it did look pretty nice.
D
I heard it said as refrigerator… so true. But this brick/refrigerator/anything flew pretty good.
