Pocahontas wasn’t her name, it was a nickname – it meant “little hellion” or “little troublemaker” in the Powhatan language. Her birth name was Matoaka

And when Captain John Smith knew her, she was twelve years old.

By the time she was as old as the model she was married to an Englishman, John Rolfe, and living in England, where she wore traditional English clothing of the time. She also changed her name to Rebecca Rolfe.
