I just discovered this series last November or December on the recommendation of some friends. Now I’m all caught up and I can’t wait for the next book, last one ended on a major WTF cliffhanger (SPOILER WARNING: the below link spoils the ending of book 12, FYI). Dresden Files #13 late July.

so I’ve seen this cover like 20 times in the last week, and I just now noticed the tiny tiny print at the bottle that says “a novel of the dresden files”.
you’d think they’d want to advertise that a wee bit more
I think the fans know, they’ve probably been doing like I have been and checking his site for updates. If someone isn’t a fan, this is definitely the wrong book to start the series with and I’m guessing the short description of the book on the inside of the cover will make that clear.
For anyone not familiar that might be interested, the setting is modern day Chicago. Dresden is a private investigator who is also a Wizard. He helps keep the city safe from the supernatural evils, various kinds of vampires, demons, werewolves, etc, most all the monsters are done with a unique twist in ways I haven’t seen before.
i read this whole series in two weeks.
I won’t read this one til the next one comes out.
“Don’t yadda yadda the Lord, Harry. It’s disrespectful.”
and
“What goes around comes around. Sometimes, you get what’s coming around. Sometimes, you are what’s coming around.”
I am quite the fan. I did a fair Dresden last Halloween. Posted it here and have a few more if interested. /shameless-self-plug
Fuck yes Dresden Files. Also you should check out Butcher’s other series, Codex Alera. It has the benefit of being finished, which means there’s no agonizing wait for a new book. And it’s just as awesome as The Dresden Files. Well, maybe not quite. But it’s still cool.
Also, best line from the series (of the many pop culture references Harry makes):
“That’s the problem with you nearly immortal types. You wouldn’t know a pop culture reference if it skittered up and implanted an embryo down your esophagus.”
