I lived in Alaska for 20 years, and he did a lot of great things for the state. You don’t exisit in the senate for as long as he did without doing something corrupt in the process. But I will say this about him: When my father and I visited Washington DC we went into the Capital Building. As we were standing in the rotunda- Ted Stevens walked past us like a man on a mission. We couldn’t believe it. We came from Alaska, and our Senator was on the job when we walked in the door.
Also- I got really fucked up with his son, Ben, in their Georgetown townhouse. (He was friends with my step-sisters). Did 420 and blow in his basement, while Ted was sleeping upstairs. I never did meet the man. That’s a true story.
I dunno if I agree with the whole “RIP” thing, he was a pretty bad guy at the end there, corrupt right down to his bone marrow.
and rather childish.
