Why are designers still using this antiquated planform and go with the inherently unstable (thus, more efficient and maneuverable) canard configuration??? The YF-23 is an pretty elegant design though. I think the F-22 is just plain ugly.
By now this design really is antiquated.
A friend at Pratt & Whitney sent me a poster-size copy of the third image, just before they got the contract to build the F-22,

Is there any advantage to having the wings look that ugly?
Fewer right angles means smaller radar signature (from what I understand). It’s part of the stealth strategy.
