Just went to see it today. Was amazing, the acting is great. They really get the period down, ALOT of attention to detail. Worth going to see.
SYNOPSIS
Based on the true story of the Queen of England’s father and his remarkable friendship with maverick Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue The King’s Speech stars Academy Award® nominee Colin Firth (A Single Man) as King George VI, who unexpectedly becomes King when his brother Edward abdicates the throne. Academy Award® Winner Geoffrey Rush (Shine) stars as Logue, the man who helps the King find a voice with which to lead the nation into war.
Yep, good stuff.
Enjoyed it; still think it’ll lose Best Picture Oscar to “The Social Network” (and frankly, it ought to.)
Also: inB4 “King is just a powerless figurehead” shitstorm.
I have to say I can not agree, this is IMHO the best film of the year.
The only disappointing thing was Churchill. They should have found an actor that could play him, and they should have researched him (at all). Churchill was an unapologizing monarchist, and backed his brother to the hilt.
Best thing about that movie was Helena Bonham Carter. Damn son, she just keeps getting finer and finer.
Saw it over the weekend, it was fantastic. Geoffrey Rush is just badass.
Also, an excellent reminder of why the ratings system is fucking idiotic. Because we can’t let children see an inspirational movie like this because someone says fuck a handful of times, but it’s fine if they want to go see Little Fockers, because it only *sounds* like they’re saying fuck.
‘King’s Speech’ gets double Oscars boost

@... Kishi: I did not even realize it was rated R. You are very correct, because this movie is much better then any of the focker movies, which are generally so crude I do not even enjoy them.
I first noticed Geoffrey Rush in Quills and loved him in it. I will always check out any movie w/ him in it.
