You don’t think its odd that these cases have been around for decades and suddenly now its a big deal? Now that Christianity is taking over the US certain people from other religions are afraid. When they hear their leaders using God in public speeches and the social climate is shifting in a direction that hurts the attacks on Catholicism it all ramps up. New cases are suddenly discovered and then we get shit like this.

I get it exactly. The RCC has successfully run a pedo protection racket for ages throughout the world. In your typical paranoid manner, you see outrage against this fact as a massive conspiracy against the church, which should be left alone to rape children like it always has. Somewhere else in the world, probably where people don’t look like you, it might be worse for kids. That makes child rape and its cover up OK in your book.
Also, it has only been recently that people (especially boys, now men) feel like they can say what happened to them and be: 1) believed 2) not judged badly as gay or a willing participant and 3) feel that something will actually be done to the people that molested them and the bureaucracy that kept it secret, justice.
Also, this child molesting thing with the church hasn’t sprung up over a few decades, it’s been literally happening for centuries, the earliest recorded case is from the 13th century
