I used to live near Detroit- and it had colder and harsher winters than Anchorage, Alaska.
Anyplace that gets those really cold winter ‘moments’ and blizzards (high winds + snow) are killer. NYC is like that, as is West Virginia (where I am now) Anchorage is just plain cold nine months a year, they’re used to it.
