APB had AWESOME potential. You could customize your gear, car, avatar to do pretty much anything. Here, I made my KNUSCHITT gear and my ride in game, for my company knuschitt.com. Glad I was a part of APB and can’t wait to see it’s before-its-time mechanics to appear in other MMOs.

APB died a horrible death due to neglect – no one played it. The developers went belly up.
In fairness – it was an eight gig download (IIRC) and then they said ‘we’ll have test games at these hours on these days and nowhere else’ – not the most user friendly. It wasn’t like you could fire it up and play anytime.
This game came out in April this year.

The mechanics this game had was before it’s time. Character, clothing, vehicle customization was way ahead of any game on the market. The dynamic match-making system for PvP, while it had it’s minute faults, is something any MMO that calls itself a PvP-MMO should look into.
Hopefully it will resurface under better conditions so those that didnt get to play can check it out.
