it’s so fucking offensive because they have those recycle bins for the 3D glasses after the movie, but if you just try to use your glasses on another movie, they still charge you for the glasses.

Those glasses are nasty. Somebody cultured all kinds of shit off of them. Take some clorox wipes with you or something.

They theorize that companies will have less paper work to process if there is a combined federal and municipal tax and those companies in seeing more profit will….wait for it…pass the savings along. Seriously. Has any fucking company in history looked at increased profits and said “time to lower prices!”. No.
In fact a lot of businesses just raised prices already anyway to account for the decrease in sales.
This was a joint venture/scam by our liberal provincial government and the Toronto Dominion bank.
Oh and natives don’t have to pay it. They were supposed to but they blockaded a road and the government caved. First comment from them: we’re going to lose about 100 million a year in revenue. But it was first sold to people not as a revenue stream but a job creation tool.
The real reason is post study they found people actually weren’t completely house poor so they decided to keep trying to get everyone to that point.

Oh we also have separate liquor taxes and a whole bunch of new emission taxes that do fuck all except grab money from people.
We have those too. In WV there’s a 5% municipal tax; on hard liquor and wine, but not beer. State sales tax is 6%, so if you buy liquor, you’re paying 11%. We’ve had pretty stringent emission rules for car inspections in our larger cities for decades. In the rural areas, as of now, there are only safety inspections. I’m sure that will change here too w/in a decade. Inspections can range from $10-$50 yearly, depending on state and county regulations.
Ours are closer to 45%.
