Was lurking the Random on M[c]S last night when I came across Unknown’s post of Oldboy awhile back. Decided to watch it. Very glad I did, amazing story of revenge.
I absolutely agree. One of the best fight scenes too, no cuts, just raw violence. Well ok there were stabs but I mean it’s not edited to death like most films today.
It is the second (and best) in a thematic trilogy. The first is Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance and the third is Lady Vengeance. I recommend checking out all three.
Same here, I honestly love everything I’ve seen by Park Chan-Wook. I’m a cyborg but that’s ok is an awesome love story set in an insane asylum and Thirst is a story about a Catholic Priest trying to come to terms with becoming a vampire. Both are excellent flicks as well.
I’m a Cyborg but that’s okay! So good.
Oldboy is amazing and well worth the watch.
What I want to know is whether Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is as good as Lady Vengeance. Opinions?
Since we’re on the subject, check out “The Chaser” (international English title) if you like Korean thrillers. Chugyeogja is the Korean title. “Battle Royale” is Japanese but also amazing. If you haven’t seen it check it out.

Thanks for the referral.

I thought Oldboy was solid fun all throughout, but that hallway fight was the icing on the vengeance-laden, fucked-up cake.
That movies ending just makes you feel so ill.
…in a good way.
NOBODY SPOIL THE BIG TWIST
He learns violence isnt the answer, and with his dying breath he apologizes.
spoiler btw
I’ll just wait for the American remake starring Will Smith. Ya rly… 🙁
This is still in my Netflix queue and I still have not watched. Why am I such a failure?
One of my all time faves. It actually caught me at the end.
