Bravo Zulu, Enterprise !!
Never been on the Big E, but I did get to see the USS Constellation (CV-64) back in ’97, it was impressive!
Damn. 2 years after I left the Connie. CV-64 was my home for four years.
Been on the Kitty Hawk and the JFK. BZ big E!
The Big E`s days are numbered. It`s a sad thing.
All of that generation is numbered. Now they get to join the great ships of the WWII generation (y’know, except the ones that sank) as museum exhibits. I just hope that the replacements that are being built are designed for the conflicts of the 21st century (likely a lot of humanitarian and anti-piracy for the forseeable).
Enterprise is a single-ship class. Soooo… you are correct to write that “all of that generation is numbered” you are also being a bit redundant in that it is the only carrier of it’s generation/class.
Very sad. My dad got our troop on the Big E when I was a scout. We actually stayed on board overnight – they put us right under the flight deck… didn’t get a lick of sleep. 🙂
