I’ve never owned any Apple product. I don’t think there is any particular reason (other than price). Nothing they made was worth me spending major money on it. Why is Apple stuff so expensive anyway?
Cuz it can be… I don’t remember where, but I read about some company that wasn’t doing very well, so they raised their prices and people started buying their stuff more. The perception is that if something’s too inexpensive, it can’t be good.
The one thing I will give Apple is that they are very good at creating purdy, intuitive, and engaging user interfaces. That is about it. The rest of it is pretty much hype.
i hated apple, then i got an iphone for a steal and enjoyed it so i moderately respected them, but now it fucks up all the time, is really laggy, and has a shitty youtube search engine not to mention having to pay for a video app thats free on the new one because i accidenally untehtered my jailbreak so apple sucks my dong
I’m waiting for the HTC Evo 4G android based phone to be out for a bit, see how it fares, then I’ll get it if there aren’t any majopr snafus. But based on the specs, I’m pretty sure it will iPwn the Iphone at almost every level.
Doing it this way does make a certain amount of sense. You could spend a crapload of money doing market research, surveys, focus groups, etc., and then make exactly the product your customers (on average) want. Or you could just release a fairly basic product with a couple snazzy features in a slick package, sell a whole crapton of them, and then see what people complain about and make money doing your research instead.
Genius, really. Evil genius, but genius nonetheless.
I like the bottom sentence.
We got 2 Macs when I was growing up; didn’t have a PC until I went to college. I had a good image of Apple, viewed them as superior: now I view them as basically fake.
Apple makes a fine product, but they are not anything truly special. They SELL it well and convince people it it superior, they are very good at molding perception.
I do not purchase Apple products, I prefer items that both work well and work well with others.

The only apple product I own is their stock, and its the best thing I ever bought from them.
