I realize the Dresden Files is a set of novels, but I’ve only watched the TV show, which I liked. Are the novels good reading, should I buy them?
I was pissed when they canceled it, The Middleman too.
The show changed a lot from the books but tried to keep it’s spirit. I really enjoy the books and they get progressively better too. Plus, imo, the book version of Bob is much cooler as just a horny talking skull spirit as opposed to a former human with human-form spirit. Check Jim Butcher’s website, he has a short story and a vignette set before the series on his website that will let you feel out if you like the story telling style.

I know, it was beautifully done. One of the few shows that I couldn’t wait to watch. It’s frustrating.
Snape effect: No matter how much Jim B. stresses that Harry Dresden is extremely tall and gangly, he always gets portrayed as varying degrees of buff.

i love the novels, the show was only loosely based on them. i really couldn’t get into it. just like the sword of truth series and the show the legend of the seeker.
I absolutely LOVE these books. And there is only three more days till there is a new Dresden book, I am so happy!
Working in a book store is awesome: Changes is a very good book, but I can’t wait to talk about it to more people.
The Dresden Files is my favorite “popcorn” novels. They are tasty and I can devour 1 in a few sittings.
The Dresden Files (books and show) are awesome. I loaned the first one out to someone over a year ago and it still hasn’t come back to me 🙁 I think I may just have to buy it again.
I worked on that show! But I never read the books. I really need to check them out.
The series and books were totally awesome. I’m gonna hate it when the Dresden novels come to a close. The should make the novels into movies but I think people will complain he has ripped of Harry Potter. Not!
There are a lot of books left to come out, like ten or so. I’d love to see a good movie made of this but I’m not sure the first book would really grab the attention deficient crowds so much as the later stuff would.
If you like Dresden Files also check out the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne, very similar feel as far as the sarcasm and such goes.
