I’m really not opposed to socialized medicine. Largely because there are honest hard working americans whose employers can not afford health care or they can not afford it privately. I can even understand why some would consider healthcare a basic human right. The way i see it if we as americans and -more importantly- members of the human race truly do value human life then we should not deny people the means to attain a longer life.

However this bill does not actually solve anything and it is nothing like the european or canadian systems that actually provide decent socialized medicine at the expense of raised taxes. In this instance we are not only being taxed for healthcare we will not use but are being forced to obtain private insurance (which is going to skyrocket in price now that this bill has been passed thus exacerbating the current problems with private healthcare.) and if they are incapable of purchasing it they must then use government funded insurance or else they risk being fined as well as taxed and to top it off now dependent on the government for one of the most basic human needs. As if that isn’t bad enough doctors paychecks are going to depend on how many lives they “save”. One of your patients dies because they have a rare cancer or other disease? Too bad, you weren’t able to play god.

How does this solve anything?

I can’t afford private insurance, i can’t afford the tax raises that will come with it. What the hell do people like me do? Why am i being forced to pay for something i can not afford?
