You’re optimistic. First, most of the HCR bill doesn’t go into effect until 2014, we could be two years into a republican administration by then. Second, there are 10 states suing over the bill on constitutional grounds and they might have a point. There’s two constitutional issues: forcing people to buy a product from a private 3rd party and giving states an unfunded mandate. If the court rules against HCR on either of those issues, its going to be clusterfuck.
and as to the lawsuits that some states (mine included) have thought about, I’ll say to you what I said to them. what the fuck are you smoking? what bill are you talking about? they’re not forcing anyone to do anything, and they haven’t mandated anything that isn’t going to be fully funded. Last I checked, one of the few powers that congress was given in the constitution is the power to levy taxes, which is exactly what this bill is doing.
take all of the about with a fair amount of afaik.
I would usually agree with you, but the current SCOTUS has been hit and miss on their decision lately and I don’t think anyone could predict how they’ll rule on this bill.
There will be, starting in 2014, a $750 or 2% of income (whichever is greater) fine for not having health insurance. Exemptions are granted if you are below the poverty line.
“…and I’m part of a socialist-fascist conspiracy to reduce your current capitalistic economic system to rubble.”
Great achievement, americans!
People will never be satisfied no matter what. It’s in our DNA to bitch and moan about anything.
Uh no you’re not. You’re just a bill. Yes you’re only a bill, and you’re sitting there on capitol hill…..
Ah yes, the country that despises abortion, but can’t be fucked to help people in need of healthcare, so lets them die. Big fucking whoop.
It’s a start, hopefully only a start.

I’ve heard that there are hefty fines and jailtime if you don’t/can’t purchase health care.
would one of you debunk this faggotry, please?

“jailtime?” uh, thats complete bunk.
Reagan and Bush Jr. had some nice microphone slips. It`s about time that Obama had one.
