I mean, I don’t like my women submissive, but then again, I usually don’t like them Christian either.
If you’re going to believe something, believe it.
Women should be submissive and silent, children should be stoned, women on their period should sit on a special chair, and stay at home… It’s all in there.
My favorite is John (The Gospel) 6:30. “Give freely to all who ask, and do not ask for return.” (I’ve checked the concordance, to make sure of the translation. Yes, that’s what it really means.)
Oh, and to any Christians reading: Please, can I have all the money in your bank account? And can I have your next paycheck signed over to me too?
You must understand the bible and not twist it in such ways. Submissiveness is a choice and a gift from God. It helps make a happy home. As a former feminist and atheist now turned to a life of God, I have seen the effects of such a life and they are truly beautiful. God also tell you to give all that you CAN give, not to kill yourself in the process. What good would that do? The bible is here to give us a better life, not to give Satan and his followers all they want. Please, turn away from evil and ask God for understanding. Wisdom and understanding is one of the greatest gifts one can receive. Especially when you are given the eyes, heart, and mind to UNDERSTAND the scriptures. Peace be with you all and may God forgive you. I love you all, as does He.
Submissive women ARE happy women. They help build up their home, rather than tearing it down. A man who loves you isn’t going to keep you locked in a cage or doing any sort of things you hate. Being submissive simply allows a household to run more smoothly, creating a very happy home and family life.
When I was a teen, my parents made me go to a Promisekeepers rally. While there was your standard Christianity stuff most people expect to hear, there was also a lot of “rule over your wife as a man of God” that I think caught people off-guard.
I’m not Christian, but I did get into BDSM, so I guess some of it stuck with me?
Silly me, I thought Timothy 2:11-12 was about while in worship, not everyday life. I guess when you just read one or two verses and ignore the rest you come to some conclusions.
Well, if you take the passage as a whole, and the epistles of Paul as a whole, the frequent theme is that women probably can’t go to heaven, probably shouldn’t be allowed to pray, and that they drag men away from god, and should wear veils.
Timothy 2
Instructions on Worship
1I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. 7And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.
8I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.
9I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15But women[a] will be saved[b] through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
Am I leaving out the bit afterwards that says “When not worshippin, thou shalt dress all slutty and be a hooker, yea praise unto the lord with thy goopy vag”? No, I don’t think so. It pretty much is still a “women are made to be subjugate to men, now shut up and make some babies” kind of message.
Because who needs context when you’re trying to make an ignorant point? Rfreedi was right, he’s referring to times while gathered together in person, a woman was not to usurp the gathering, questioning (interrogating) the preacher.

you’re ignoring the “women are gullible, they need to shut up and keep cranking out babies babies to make up for it”. what more context do you want than the statement that women should be subordinate to man and can’t teach – so what if it IS “only” in worship? Fuck that.
A possible interpretation of verse 15 here: www.ichthys.com/mail-1Tim2-15.htm
The woman [Eve] participated in the transgression [of Adam’s fall], though she was deceived. But she (i.e., still here as a type of all women to follow) will be delivered-safely-through this [painful experience of] childbearing [Gen.3:16] – provided they (i.e., all believing women after Eve’s example) prudently abide in faith, and love, and sanctification.
Are you listening, Pelosi?

Keep a woman quiet?Good luck.
I think it’s reasonable.

I’m not saying all women should be quieter but Christian women are more than welcome to shut the fuck up.
