Not everywhere. It’s just there is always construction going on big cities. Where I lived was a low to middle class area, there was never garbage on the ground and even more rarely a homeless person. There was this one guy that came through every Monday and Thursday (garbage pick-up days, including recyclables) and he would go through all the recycle bins looking for bottles w/ 5 or 10 cent refunds. The whole neighborhood, after a while, would leave all the refundables on top for him.
I didn’t see constructions, I did see ugly buildings everywhere and an infinite concrete jungle which seemed to be more of an “acquired taste” in order to enjoy it. Even from afar, you could see the polluted brown sky sitting on top of the city.
i stayed in the Bronx and i never noticed the pollution that everybody mentions, sure i saw alot of construction but thats to be expected in a city that never sleeps.. from media and word of mouth i was expecting to find it pretty rough but i’ll be honest most of the people were really nice! the old guy next door brought us tea and poptarts when we were clearing snow. The worst i saw was a woman swearing at a child but where i used to grow up you’d see mother and children smoking weed together so doesn’t seem very bad haha
There is pollution; it comes over for Jersey. It really depends on where in the city you are (the further south/west/downtown you get, the worse it gets) and which way the wind is blowing.
Mew Yorkers are as nice as those in any other city/town, once they get to know you. Moving from NYC to WV was a bit disturbing at first because people kept making eye contact; I kept thinking “How rude.”
Nah didn’t go there. I figured NYC had more to offer than a park, so I wasn’t interested to go back then, because if the only saving point NYC had was a park in the middle of piled up rubble, by that sense this whole island that I live in is a damn park.
Now I feel a BIT curious just to see if I missed out on anything, but it’s not enough to make me wanna go to NYC, I’ve been offered to stay with my father many times and he still can’t understand I hate the damn place.
Well, to be fair, it’s way more than just a park, but I get your point. I grew up in it, so I guess I see it differently. When I first moved to WV, it was akin culture shock. I had to get in my truck and drive for 30 minutes to do a food shopping. There is zero public transportation and people talk funny. It’s better now, some stores are open 24/7 and I can get a decent bagel and pizza. I had a hard time w/ people I didn’t know talking to me and making eye contact. Actually that’s still a bit annoying. On the other hand, I’ve discovered that not all evangelicals are completely insane. Progress has been made.
I miss NYC so much 🙁
Shame it looks like a big dump from the ground.

I was there in 2005 and it was a depressing site.
I wholeheartedly dislike New York City.

Certainly there are areas that are ugly, but you saw nothing beautiful?
Nope.
I’m not exactly a city person but if seeing big screens advertising overrated crap is the only good stuff NYC has to offer, count me out.
You didn’t get to Central Park? That one park dead center of Manhattan is larger than may cities.

you need a shirt that says I </3 NY
/thread
I do, although morons would probably think NY broke my heart, so it’d be better to have it say HATE plainly simple.
Nice, 4 & 6 especially
Am I the only one who after seeing the title had “Fire On High” running through my head?
