none at all, th cats system is built to handle that. same as being able to eat raw poultry with no ill effect. and yes it’s real, my cats did the same thing. kinda funny to watch actually….
Its all in the level of “safe”. Homogenizing kills bacteria, and udders often have fecal bacteria on them. Drinking non-homogenized milk puts you at much higher risk of catching some pretty nasty bugs.
You can give cats milk, but most adult cats are lactose intolerant, just like almost all mammals, so too much will make them sick.
I drink non-homogenized and non-pasteurized milk. My endocrinologist hates that I do, but…fuck her.
Homogenized just means the raw milk gets mixed together so well that it doesn’t separate when left sitting. I have to shake it up every time I use it. Kiddo will skm off the cream and use it for various cooking purposes.
Pasteurizing means it been processed in such a way as to make it as close to sterilized as they can.
Cuteness overload…
I love this pic. The version I have is too shitty to post.
1. Is this real?
2. I assume that un-homogenized milk is ok for other mammals that naturally drink it?
Yes it’s real. When I lived in Oklahoma, our cats would line up and do the same thing. I don’t think there are any ill effects.

unhomogenized milk is safe for humans to consume as well.
Then why do they homogenize it?

You’re right, I was thinking pasteurized.
