Well, it’s not usually nuclear power plants in those pictures. :p When it is, they “evil” isn’t so much the “steam” but the representation of the other byproduct of nuclear power plants: Nuclear waste. Heavy water.
Nuclear waste can be reused (that what France does and they power over 80% of their country with nuclear power) and with new techniques and technologices now available even that waste will be much smaller. Also the US doesn’t use heavy water reactors, Canadian does though.

I think I’d be more worried than I am now. It might not be completely rational, but McCain scared me. I have no doubt that Obama is a superb politician (w/ all that implies), but McCain seemed rickety, unsure and often clueless. His picking Palin did nothing to reassure me.
