I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this movie, it was a late night, I was bored and then I discovered it streaming on Hulu. It is prolly still there if anyone wants to check it out.
God don’t make me watch that again. The first hour is nothing but flashbacks within flashbacks with not enough violence. The last part was FUCKING HEARTBREAKING. I actually cried. Like real tears. I think I’ve cried 3 times this whole decade and one of them was because of a fucking movie.
It was a great movie. But when we got it we were expecting more Blind Swordsman and less Old Yeller. I mean it’s a Samurai movie with “Sword” right in the title.
There was a laughable “japanese drama” part in which they just said each other’s names back and forth until they hugged. I thought they only did that in animes but now I get that the japanese have a really crappy sense of dramatization.
Being a foreign film fan, somebody recommended this to me and I’m glad that person did. Great freaking movie.

Make use of hulu now while it’s still free

Yeah I got lost in the flashbacks. Movie was a bit too long for long but the ending made up for it.
Sorry the pathetic current film trend of exaggerated violence with lack of violence has screwed your perspective.
