Nah man, Hitler was an anti social atheist, he only used Christianity to fool the masses. As for Lincoln, why did you have to pick a man with such a controversial history. Based on the things he said throughout his life, he really was anything but a die hard atheist.
It’s not like there aren’t enough non controversial examples to choose from. Instead of Hitler I would have put Fred Phelps and instead of Lincoln I would put Einstein. Specifically the one picture where he is sticking out his tongue.
Hitler’s theism has been strongly debated. He was a Roman Catholic throughout his life, his library was full of religious works, he explained and justified his actions in religious language, saying that exterminating the Jewish peoples would be doing the almighty’s work. At the same time, many scholars have said that he was simply using religion to manipulate, while christian apologists say that nobody so bloodthirsty and evil could be a christian (hes bad, so he can’t be christian).
Regardless, with much of Nazi Germany being a highly religious population, primarily Lutheran, does it really matter if Hitler was a theist, atheist or just apathetic? Religious people followed his commands while atheists were targeted for placement in labor camps. If he was atheist, it was an occult atheism that rejected any scientific progress if it did not mesh with either killing people more efficiently or his worldview. Hence, study of Haeckel’s and Darwin’s work was outlawed in Germany.
Lincoln, not a bad pick, but again, his level of atheism is questionable. Same with Einstein. Picking one person to represent groups so diverse as theist, agnostic and atheist is never going to work to everybody’s satisfaction, and at best will leave at least one group pissed off.
At the end of the day, only they know what they believed…
And trying to justify yours by association is just suilly…
Hey Look ! Einstein is on our team !
I hate the fact that humanity doesn’t know how to get away from the US vs THEM animal mentality…sad really.
well, look at the facts
Hitler who believed in religion set about cleansing undesirables from the planet in order to liberate humanity and bring about a new world free from corruption
Lincoln was a die-hard atheist who only used religious quotes in his speeches, in order to sound well-meaning and trustworthy to the people, while all the while bringing about the damnation of the world around him with liberal policies
@fracked:
Riiiiiiiight, all the Nazis were christians and atheists were sent to the camps for being atheists. That’s about the stupidest thing I’ve heard this week.
Now, this may come as news to you, but: Religion didn’t matter in Nazi Germany. All that mattered was being categorized in the right (or at least an acceptable) race and keep your bloody mouth shut. Be a jew, be black, be polish (remember: Poland has always been a deeply catholic country) or be so careless to speak up against the government: THAT’S the camps for you. That’s why people like Dietrich Bonhoeffer and other members of the Confessing Church died in the camps: because they didn’t fall in line.
The pussy way out, eh? Let me be your cynical advocatus diaboli and put it this way: Hitler survived 42 assassination attepts – Lincoln not even one. Well, that’s my share of bad taste for tonight.
I would switch Lincoln and Hitler.
Few people have the lust to murder
as did Hitler,Lincoln questioned a
God who would allow such murder but
at the same time felt the war was God’s
judgement on a nation that would
allow slavery.

isn’t this a repost?
Nope, it’s a mockery of a post.
I would have put myself in all the places, in various clothing items.
I might just do that.
Do it.
Yeah, do it.
you can do it lamb.
its unanimous, lamb. you should do it.
Lamb: DOOOOO EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
Do it. I have spoken.
I would have left them all blank, so we could all print them off and draw people in with some crayons and then post what we had drawn.
It would have been a nice bonding activity we could all have done.
Oh well.
I like Luke’s suggesting the most.
I will… tomorrow.

Wow Fracked and i actually agree on something pertaining to religious matters for once.
It’s 2/3 repost,
But using Hitler as argument is lame.
Oh, and: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law
