@...tiki god: Eh. I have many friends who ride them. To each their own but personally I take no pleasure in them, either in their looks or how they feel to ride.
I’ve always had a thing about efficiency. I just can’t romanticize old stuff as being somehow better than new stuff just because it’s old. I respect old muscle cars, etc, for what they were at the time but they are relics… objects that represent a step in the progress of humanities obsession with pushing the limit and playing.

A single derb cover doesn’t make it a “theme” bike. I have the same JD logo on my points cover (which doesn’t cover any points, but derby covers don’t look like derby hats anymore, either) on my twin cam, and it sure as hell isn’t a “theme” bike.
+ thats a semi-new bike. AKA a lawyers bike.. i would be impressed if it was a classic, kinda smashed up, a few rebel flags, a BOTTLE, and sum burly white dude givin me the finger.. that would get a 5.. (whats a 5 now???) + FUCK YOU=MCS LOVE..
I’m not a huge fan of Harleys, but I like this one on looks.
Why are people down on cruisers? Because they’re petty minded and intolerant, and if they don’t get pleasure from something they can’t stand other people getting any.
I ride, I’ve never even had a car licence, it’s all motorcycles. At present I have a naked commuter and a big V Twin cruiser, but I also like sports bikes, touring bikes, scramblers, cafe racers, sports bikes, streetfighters, scooters, choppers, bobbers, motards and enduros.
In fact, I like pretty much all of them in their place, except mini-motos, and there’s no place for them unless you’re a full grown adult.
Automobile drivers don’t go around saying, “I drive a station wagon, pick-up trucks suck ass” or “two seater convertibles are shite, everyone should drive a sedan”. It’s nonsense, diffent cars fit different lifestyles and uses, you don’t get a two seater sports car when you need to take your kids to school and you don’t get a muscle car when you want to save on fuel costs.
Same applies to motorcycles, people get them for different reasons, to do different things on.
@...JamesTuskGeorge: WOW got you by the balls now- I drive a ’92 chev station wagon.. I gets 20 mpg avg. 305 v8. with a few add-ons. Its Faster then your POS. I also takes 8 passengers + me to the beach.. with room for beer..they don’t make cars like they use too.. BIG TRUCKS SUCK!! 11 mpg BRO!. But my bike also gets 52 mpg so….1 bike and 1 wagon is all you NEED!
The whole “I’m going to judge people that don’t agree with me thing” is very early teens. Disliking a particular vehicle does not make someone PETTY MINDED and IGNORANT. If anything, you saying that makes you petty minded and ignorant.
Who said chopper anywhere?
Choppers are something that Jessie James makes and the like.
manbench is correct, just a softtail with a few personal touches.
@...tiki god: I’m not really seeing a lot of cruiser hate… just refusal to accept the theme just because of one engine casing.
I don’t hate cruisers. I just wouldn’t buy one. I ride with people who ride cruisers all the time. I’m not biased, just picky about what I put between my legs. 😉
@...outofocus: I said they were petty minded and intolerant, not ignorant. I’m not making a value judgment – people who are down on other people who like different things to themselves are intolerant people, they are unable/unwilling to tolerate things they dislike. Being vocal about your intolerance is petty-minded, there’s no need to rain on someone else’s fun, it’s perfectly possible top keep it to yourself. QED I stated a fact.
@...Moe: My commuter can get 100 mpg, my cruiser will go well over 100mph. My last sports bike would go a great deal faster. You got nothing over me. I don’t need four wheels more than a few times a year, and when I do I hire whatever I want for the day.
@...JamesTuskGeorge: Yeah, that was a typo on my part… mixing homework and MCS tends to cause that to happen.
While I understand what you’re saying, it doesn’t really seem relevant to this thread or this site. One of the various points of this site is having a place to go where one can not only have semi-interesting conversations from time to time but can also saying inappropriate and rough around the edges stuff. I’m actually extremely observant of respectful boundaries and all that when communicating in person or email but on forums and sites like this, the effort ends up being a waste of energy because people don’t respond in kind.
I don’t recall reading one response to this image that was intolerant… or as you put it, “down on other people”. It seems like most of the responses were disagreeing with the idea that the bike was actually JD themed just because of one thing which again, isn’t intolerant… simply disagreeing on the definition of what makes a theme.
I think I’m the only person who was actually “anti-cruiser” and I was very clear that it’s my own opinion which is not a form of intolerance or petty minded but based completely on information gathering and personal experience.
I am also a motorcycle only person and I would like to know what it is that you are riding that gets 100mpg. The best I’ve ever gotten, which was on my SV650S was 64mpg. I cry every time I put gas in my current bike because it’s getting little better than a Harley at this point. *sigh* I just picked up new plugs and oil which I’m hoping will help. I’ve only had the bike for two months and have no idea when it last got some love.
Cars can’t compete with bikes until you get to pro-level driving when being squat over four tires actually makes the difference between having traction and not.
And that saying, “You got nothing over me” makes me want to make fun of you so bad… the fact that you even feel the need to prove yourself… it just totally contradicts your whole “thou shalt not be petty minded and intolerant” line. Just sayin’.
@...outofocus: People approach this site however they like, that’s what makes it relevant. I like to argue with people who I think are being reactionary.
@...JamesTuskGeorge: I wanted to separate the reactions to keep it clear which is for what.
Which bullet? I see four listed on the website. I think I like the look of the Electra the most. I have a thing for the old standards… I thought about picking one up instead of my current bike but my wrists won’t put up with a lot of wrenching anymore. *sad*
Wonderful goods from you, man. I’ve bear in mind your stuff previous to and you are just too fantastic. I really like what you’ve obtained right here, certainly like what you are saying and the best way by which you say it. You’re making it enjoyable and you still care for to stay it sensible. I cant wait to read much more from you. This is actually a wonderful site.
we dont.. FUCK OFF!
A single sticker does not a theme make.
@...MikesterMike: That’s not a sticker. That’s the actual casing.
But yeah… I’m still not impressed. It’s a cruiser. Inefficient engine is inefficient.
The engine must be at least 4 times as large as the rest of the bike combined.
@...outofocus:
not a fan of cruisers I take it?
@...tiki god: Eh. I have many friends who ride them. To each their own but personally I take no pleasure in them, either in their looks or how they feel to ride.

I think its pretty cool.
Whats up with all the negativity, folks?
Sheesh you douchebags.
Its a freakin bike.
Chill out, sorry its not a full sponsored bike by them.

Actually, they do.

Geez.
Not a chopper, merely a softtail with a JD derby. sorry for it to be a chopper he woudl have had to “chop” something not just bolt on a part
God help you idiots if you ever have real problems.
Who said chopper anywhere?

I’m still not clear on the cruiser hate. what the fuck? I’ve owned two of them, and have love both 🙂
