For the life of me, I can’t figure out if sperm is vegan. I mean, it was willingly given, but at the same time, so is milk. I mean, if you don’t milk a dairy cow, it suffers injuries from overproducing milk (side effect of breeding). That’s pretty fucked up, yet vegans are still against it. I guess it’d be a coin toss on this one.
@...Paul_Is_Drunk: Sperm is given willingly by a sentient being, not an animal. Horse sperm would not be acceptable to vegans but human sperm would be.
@...outofocus:
I am not sure that I agree with you there…
Willingly given is not really a vegan excuse otherwise cannibalism would be OK if it was with permission… which sounds odd, but unfortunately has happened in a city some 40 km from me some 4 years ago.
So, take away the free will argument and sperm looks awfully un-vegan.
On a similar note… I wonder if it is OK to watch a vegan woman have sex with a donkey, if the donkey enjoys the experience and has paid for drinks and dinner…
I have to confess to briefly being curious as to how you’d judge the “willingness” of an ejaculating animal. It’d be one thing if it were electrically induced (which is done) but…okay now I am no longer curious.
@...outofocus:
If the cows offspring were being fed by the mother, it really shouldn’t be an issue. What happened when man did not milk cows? Its possible that modern cows produce more milk than needed for their actual offspring, and if this is true then it must be due to human’s fucking with cows in this manner for a few millenia. What about the wild bovine species that are not reliant on mankind to milk them? They don’t have these issues.
@...RSIxidor: Digression and moot point. The cows still need to be milked.
Laying ‘blame’ doesn’t help the poor cows.
Though, ironically, I am for the lower distribution of cows to reduce methane emissions and increase world food production. Vegans, as a group, are just too stuck in their mindset and converting people (kinda like hardcore Christians) to be of any practical help. I have a few low-key vegan friends, but they don’t go off on me when I eat a burger.
@...Paul_Is_Drunk:
I don’t like that cows need to be milked, but perhaps its a fact, I don’t know the science behind it. I do know that if it is a fact, its because humans made it that way and that does not make it okay, just explains how it came to be this way. Most cows in the agricultural industry do not live anything that can be considered a life. They’re machines, plain and simple.
There also wouldn’t be as many cows as they’re are today if farming them hadn’t turned into an industry. There’s plenty of other food sources out there, so that’s really a moot point anyway.
I’m not trying to convert you, do whatever you want. Seriously. I mean it.

this comic is just trying too hard to be outrageous
Funny until the last one … that last one hurts to look at.
@...BowToMe: Tru Dat!

These are lame.

Oh, and I think I may have failed by omitting the NSFW tag…sorry. 🙁

That was meant for Paul, actually.
