Another reason why this cements him as this generations rock genius. Quite an impressive resume to create, play lead guitar and sing lead vocals in three bands since 1999.
So is his sister getting the shaft on all of these? I don’t really know much about the White Stripes, but you would think she would be included in some of these side projects
He’s no “rock genius”, he’s just a pretty good rock guitarist, he’s not doing anything new, just old-style rock. @...Corman: His sister can’t really play anything.
Wouldn’t the fact he has changed bands so often say he is actualy not that good at all. It’s usually the 2nd and 3rd album that show a good musician not the 2nd or 3rd band. White stripes were meh with there 2 singles and the rest no so much.
@barcrest: wait, so Icky Thump was the SIXTH album to be released by the White Stripes, concurrently while he was with the Raconteurs, who would put out an album less than a year later.
Icky Thump got 4 singles on the radio (xm airwaves), and the sophmore album by The Raconteurs had at least 3 singles on the air (while every single track did indeed rock on that album). I would say that disqualifies your statement.
You don’t necessarily have to stay with the same bands to show your good. Again, I’ll bring up Blink 182…look at Tom Delonge with Boxcar Racer, and Travis with the Transplants, still while doing stuff with Blink. I think that the more you can spread yourself to different musical styles or sounds, that makes you all the more ecletic.
@...barcrest: OMG FUCK YOU THE WHITE STRIPE KICK ASS!!
i mean WTF? singles? that’s how you judge the quality of a musician?
my favorite album is the always playable “Get Behind Me Satan”. it doesn’t have any shitty songs on it, and it’s got 13 tracks. the ‘Stripes are an awesome fucking band, and to get so much sound out of a 2 person band is pretty extraordinary.
If you think that a kiss is all in the lips
C’mon, you got it all wrong, man
And if you think that our dance was all in the hips
Oh well, then do the twist
If you think holding hands is all in the fingers
Grab hold of the soul where the memory lingers and
Make sure to never do it with a singer
Cause they’ll tell everyone in the world
What he was thinking about the girl
Yeah, but he’s thinking about the girl, oh
@...barcrest: srsly dude they rock. on and on and on. and racentuers or whatever are win too. i have an album played it for alot of people. they thought it was a vintage band from the 70s. not many bands do that. not any that i know of.
@...barcrest: I am with you man, he almost ruined James Bond for me. I just find his style annoying, others worship him. But what do I know, I only love music …
Alison Mosshart is so freakin’ hot… nom.
Is he planning on singing lead and playing guitar in this band?
Wiki has him listed as the drummer.
and vocals and guitar

@...Corman: She’s his ex-wife, dude. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_stripes#Early_history
And btw, if by “rock genius” you mean “coked-up musician”, then yes. He is.
