Ok, here’s the skinny …
I was born in 1943 and TV came to Tallahassee in ’51: WCTV Ch 6 brdcst six hrs a day. Winky Dink came on Sat am, and us kiddies needed Saran wrap to overlay the screen so we could use crayons to connect dots – thereby giving WD a car to ride in or a bat to hit the baseball, etc. Hot stuff and VERY geeky, 58 years ago! Pres Ike smoked on the same TV later. lol
All true. Cheers,
Robert A.
@...Robert: Thank you for shedding light on WD’s origins –appreciated.
As for “misleading”, I think the pic is probably showing a comic or coloring-book tie-in with the show you describe, so the fact that it’s in color isn’t much of a stretch.
I remember this… no details come to mind, but it’s like a dark memory from childhood.

PS… your pic is misleading as all TV
was B&W monochrome (and snowy).

In the 60’s, I used a marks-a-lot and windex because I did not have enough money to send away for the official Winky Dink “kit”. :-p
Made by Dell, apparently. Was the show made with shoddy production values and useless?
@...Sticky:
Wake up. Michael Dell wasn’t even born
when this show ran.
@...Robert:
Likewise. I was being sarcastic. Apparently I forgot to use the magical ¶ symbol.
Winky Wat?
