I kinda like it, but at the same time, this is yet another piece of my childhood being raped. Is there nothing left sacred that they could just leave the fuck alone?
Biased as I can be, but Raph is my least fave turtle and Leo is my favorite. So the fact that Raph looks awesome and Leo looks gay makes me hate this. A lot.
@...Paul_Is_Drunk: Ah, ok. I don’t know who Malachi Maloney is, but with the way everyone’s just remaking things any more instead of innovating, it’s just easier to assume.
@...nobody knows: No, I think those pics leaked on the internet and became shooped. I can tell from looking at the pixels and seeing a bunch of shoops in my lifetime.
@...reboot: So does your mom, but that doesn’t stop anything, does it? Oh, crap. My childhood….
As a former TMNT fan (I still have all my old Playmates figures safely stored in a box) I say… I approve of these. Raph was always my favorite, so I’m particularly fond of his redesign.
Now we need these in an orgy scene with a redesigned, slutty-looking April.
I have the original first series of action figures. I was a total Ninja Turtle little kid. Now I just need to get a hold of the original comics that started it all.
These designs look good, but they may be overdone. TMNT are *not* stylized and individualized. What made them great in the 80s (among other things) was that they looked like NINJAS…you know, part of a force, one that moved together, that acted as one. When you make individualized designs, they are less ninjas and more cartoon characters. This guy did nice work, but it’s just not TMNT to me.
And I’ll clarify…I speak of the TMNT who all had red masks, not the different colored pizza-eating dude-speakers of the cartoons. I mean the originals.
At first it sounded like an actual legitimate complaint, but now all the “They just pissed on my childhood” comments are starting to sound like “get off my lawn you whipper snappers!”
If its really an aweful makeover that theyve done ten billion times (like the 6+ re imaginations lucas has had on star wars, trying to sell them all as one entity) then okay, but these imaginations of TMNT are freaking awesome and completely different from what I grew up with and I heartily approve.
Beware, some of you sound like you are getting old, and youre broadcasting it for all the world to hear… Now get off my goddam lawn.
I’m not wholly sold on this for two reasons: the heads (at least on Leo) don’t seem to fit with the bodies. Dunno if it’s the sea turtle look or not, but they just don’t jive with the rest of the figure. The bodies look good, though, and I like the way he handled the shells; it looks like they’re wearing armor (which they are, after a fashion).
Second, I dunno why Don’s a Buddhist Monk. It’s a little weird, but hey, they’re ninjas, so maybe it’s a disguise.
Given that Raph is really the only ninja looking one in the group (Leo looks like a samurai, and Mike also looks vaguely monk-like), they don’t really look like, well, ninjas. I mean, yeah, in reality they wouldn’t want to look like ninjas, but for fiction, you kinda have to look the part.
Still, I can certainly appreciate the talent that wen into this. If I were an art director, I’d certainly have some notes, though.
ninja turtle realism is awesome. this is not like calvin fanart, you queebs. there is nothing sacred left about the turtles institution, or have you never seen the pizza hut rendition. jesus christ. this is probably the finest incantation of the TMNT yet, FUCK.
I guess I’m just gonna call it art and go with the flow…

The only real “ninja turtle” is Raphael… Leonardo looks like a ronin or a samurai, Donatello is a zen monk, and Michaelangelo, I’m not sure… he is wearing a hakama (aikido, kendo, etc) and a prayer beads necklace (???).
They don’t even look like turtles…
i like the sea turtle look. its kinda cool

@...bejamus:
your first birthday?

@...bejamus: It’s a fan redesign/re-imagining. They’re not doing anything with it. I think it’s cool from an artistic viewpoint.
@...bejamus:
Your childhood drinks too much and dress like a whore.

Not sure if want…
Radical!
I like the look aaaiiight, but I would have assigned the skin motifs differently.

The only one I like is Splinter.
Lame!

those guys are fucking ripped

Just to say this.

The sea turtle look is Cool… though I don’t really see the point of losing the leathery skin from the biceps down…

@...Record Store Tough Guy: Well, yes, two monks, a samurai and only one ninja…
